NTIF - A Year Round Volunteer OpportunityNTIF is actually almost a year round activity for many people. In fact, the headline performers selection committee is already discussing ideas for 2009 and even 2010. Celtic bands that you want to hear, such as Grada, Cathie Ryan, Eileen Ivers, Dave Munnelly and Brother are in very high demand these days, and to secure the dates in March is extremely difficult. If you would like to volunteer for NTIF remember that we have many needs other than just the three days in March each year. Volunteers are welcome in all areas of the festival operations, from early planning activities, advanced program advertising sales and set construction, public relations, sponsorships, setup before the event, weekend operations and even cleanup the day or two after. Let us know what skills you have, what time you have available and how you would like to help and we will put you to work. The following are just some of the specific needs that we have during the weekend of the festival. AdmissionsWe anticipate that over 45,000 people will walk through the gates of NTIF 2008. Our three admission gates will need lots of people to sell tickets, run credit cards and take cash. Lots of folks will be needed here. No experience is needed, just a smile and a warm NTIF welcome. Beer SalesVolunteers are needed to pour beer. You need to be TABC certified for this (we arrange and pay for the training), and you must be 21 or over. You will receive additional on-site training in how to correctly pour a Guinness and how to (not) mix a Black and Tan. FinanceWe always need people to help count money! Banking or finance experience is a plus, and you must be over 21. We reserve the right to run background checks on all volunteers in this area. HospitalityHave you ever fed a small army of staff and musicians? Do you have catering experience? If so, volunteering in this area is for you. Mix with the not-so rich but certainly famous in the NTIF Hospitality room. Main OfficeThe NTIF Main Office is the one point of contact for all staff, vendors, lost children, lost parents, press and public information. It is staffed the entire weekend and there are many administrative tasks to tackle. Performers' Products SalesProbably the busiest location at the festival, the Performer Products booth sells performers tapes, CDs, T-shirts, etc. This frees the performers to enjoy the festival as much as anyone else and know that their fans can easily get a copy of their latest CD. SCMA Information BoothThe SCMA promotes Celtic cultural events in North Texas, including the NTIF. Help support the SCMA and spend a few hours at their booth giving out information about various upcoming events, selling product and encouraging new members to sign up. T-shirt SalesAlso known as Information Booths, these locations sell a combination of T-shirts, programs and food & beverage coupons. I guess they also give away information as well! Stage ManagersHave you ever wanted to be on the stage? Well at NTIF you can. Be a Stage Manager/MC and announce the acts, take care of wants and needs of the performers and get them on and off the stage on time. TransportationDrivers are needed for our courtesy transportation which take performers to and from the airport, hotel and makes special trips as needed (for those things they forgot to pack!). Must be a licensed driver over 25 with no tickets. Urchin StreetThe Urchin Street area is devoted to children. We have a music stage, story telling, special activities, petting zoo and information booths from Dallas Police, Fire, Library etc. Volunteers will be working with kids, in an educational environment. We reserve the right to run background checks on all volunteers in this area. VendorsHelp check in vendors and get them set up on Friday and Saturday morning. Resolve conflicts on space allocation, electrical needs, tables, parking etc. Volunteer AreaCheck in volunteers, manage shift assignments, pass out the T-shirts and all other duties that are needed!
